Year 1C 2022
Miss Davidge was pleased to receive a fantastic email on her first day back after the winter break! Please watch the fantastic film all about making gingerbread cookies!
We are sure you'll agree that our very talented baker thought carefully about her voice projection, use of facial expression and eye contact!
What great use of Oracy skills! Santa enjoyed the cookies, too!
A special box was delivered to our classroom. There was also a letter from ‘The Magic Toymaker’.
We discovered that the toymaker wanted us to use the materials to imagine and make our own toys in teams.
We then had to present our toy to the class!
We used the knowledge we have learnt through our topic to create our own videos of polar animals explaining:
- The group they belong to
- Whether they are a carnivore, herbivore or omnivore
- How the animal adapts to its habitat
For National Storytelling Week and World Read Aloud Day, we listened carefully and enjoyed the poem ‘I’ve got a cold’. We showed our understanding of the poem by answering questions. We then worked together to learn part of the poem and enjoy reciting it, using the physical stand of the Oracy framework.
Later in the week, we practised retelling the traditional fairy tale story 'Little Red Riding Hood'. We also created our own hand puppets to take home, so that we could do some more of our own storytelling over the weekend!
