'Where we belong, aspire and succeed'

For National Storytelling Week and World Read Aloud Day, Year 1 listened carefully and enjoyed the poem ‘I’ve Got a Cold’.

We showed our understanding of the poem by answering questions. We then worked together to learn part of the poem and enjoyed reciting it, using the physical stand of the Oracy Framework.

Later in the week, we practised retelling the traditional fairy tale story 'Little Red Riding Hood'. We also created our own hand puppets to take home, so that we could do some more of our own storytelling over the weekend!

Our Star Story Tellers told the story of "The Big Egg”, about a hen who found an egg too big for her nest and needed to find its home. After practising their story telling abilities with classmates they shared these with our visiting storyteller, John Row.
