'Where we belong, aspire and succeed'

Our mathematics curriculum is designed to enable children to become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics, to be able to reason and to solve problems. Our curriculum is built on the research that learning is a change to long-term memory. Therefore, we have designed our curriculum to ensure we revisit and review learning over time, with the aim being that this learning will stick. Revisiting learning from previous years and terms will allow the children to build on their prior learning and make connections.

Our curriculum maximises the development of every child’s ability and academic achievement by delivering daily lessons that are creative and engaging to build on children’s knowledge.

One of our key drivers is communication and language and a mathematics curriculum founded in reasoning and problem solving ensures this is at the forefront of teaching and learning. Our mathematics curriculum encourages personal development and exploration by helping children to develop their meta-cognitive skills such as finding new ways to solve a problem and learning from their mistakes (failing forwards).

To support children with their fluency, we use an interactive times table resource to help children develop their tables knowledge. The resource also allows teachers to track progress and identify gaps in children’s learning.
