Christmas Decorations

With Christmas coming, we couldn't resist making something seasonal, something personal that could be given as a gift, to be treasured and enjoyed year after year, and with that in mind we set about making our felt Christmas tree decorations.

Week 1. We practised three different stitches; running stitch, overstitch and blanket stitch. We had to choose the one we felt comfortable with and then perfect it so our decorations would be strong enough to stand the test of time.

Week 2. Having chosen a decoration to make, we were ready to start... but not before having another sewing practise!
We all agreed that it was a good idea to have that second practise and when we sewed, our stitches were even and straight and we felt really confident as we worked. Some of us sewed on tiny seed beads with very thin needles, others sewed on bright buttons that looked like christmas tree baubles. We really surprised Mrs McGrath and Mrs Hatton with how far we got today!

Week 3. We finished our decorations today, stuffing them with polyester filling, adding silver heart charms and personalising them by making shrink plastic tags with our names on and the year we made them, so we'll never forget.

Week 4. We made and decorated gift boxes to put our masterpieces in. Making our decorations has been hard work but great fun too... and of course our decorations have all been made with love!

Thanks to our fantastic group for making this yet another fun filled project!
