'Where we belong, aspire and succeed'

Henri Rousseau Project

As part of our mixed curriculum on a Thursday morning, a group of Year 1, 2 and 3 children have been inspired by Henri Rousseau’s painting of a tiger creeping through the jungle. We used this to give us ideas about how we might make our own jungle artwork using collage and drawing techniques.

We started by making a collage using a range of papers which we ripped, cut, twisted and folded to create different effects. We then added drawing over the top using oil pastels and wax crayons. The final stage was to add our jungle animals. Take a look at our jungle scenes. Which one is your favourite?

Thank you to all the children that took part in this group. I hope they enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed leading it!
