As part of the Making Places Active conference, Active Travel England has launched a “Place Makers” children’s drawing initiative, inviting children across England to submit artwork showing what their ideal street or neighbourhood would look like.
The initiative aims to place children’s voices at the heart of discussions about future street design and placemaking. Drawings will be combined into a large collage backdrop displayed at the conference and viewed by professionals involved in shaping streets and public spaces across the country. Children are encouraged to illustrate features such as safe walking and cycling routes, public transport connections, green spaces, play areas, community facilities and places to socialise.
Entries must be submitted to makingactiveplaces@activetravelengland.gov.uk by 27 July 2026. Further information available HERE.
